Marc Lecuit awarded a 2024 ERC Proof of Concept grant

The European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept scheme, part of the EU's Horizon Europe framework program, is aimed at scientists who have already been awarded an ERC grant (Starting, Consolidator, Advanced or Synergy) that is still ongoing or ended less than a year ago, who are looking to transfer the results of their research, develop their medical and innovation potential and explore market opportunities.

In the first wave of the 2024 "Proof of concept" call, the European Research Council (ERC) selected 100 projects, including 10 from France.

This year's laureates include Marc Lecuit, Head of the Biology of Infection Unit, for the PRESERVE project (Preventing Rejection and Ensuring Survival of Grafts), aimed at developing a strategy to prevent rejection of transplanted cells by the recipient's cellular immunity based on a mechanism that mimics the technique used by Listeria monocytogenes bacteria to evade the immune system. This approach would limit the need for immunosuppressants currently used to prevent transplant rejection.
