Take another look at the Arctic adventure created by Editions Gallimard and the Institut Pasteur

As presented in the newsletter on July 3, 21 skippers eager to get back to ocean racing lined up at the start of the Vendée-Arctique-Les Sables d'Olonne solo unassisted non-stop race on 60-foot monohulls on July 4.

As well as the sporting challenge, which had to be reimagined in light of the unprecedented health context and which saw skipper Jérémie Beyou triumph after 10 days of sailing, the race brought together sailors, authors for Éditions Gallimard – including Erik Orsenna – and Institut Pasteur scientists for a unique writing project. Nineteen sailors and twelve authors from Éditions Gallimard all agreed to write a text. Their work was unveiled on a dedicated platform every day during the race, together with the video vignettes produced by eleven Institut Pasteur scientists whose work the race organizers wanted to showcase.

You can check out all the stages of the race, together with the texts and the video vignettes by Institut Pasteur scientists (in French)
