Why not take the stairs?

In the run-up to the Paris Olympics, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR/RSE) Department, in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Prevention Department and the Real Estate and Technical Department, is proposing a summer sports challenge for staff by asking people to take the stairs rather than the elevator. This is an easy way to do some sport – it's good for you and good for the environment.

The original idea was presented at the 2022 Sustainable Development Challenge by Alexis Matamoro-Vidal for the Green DSCB initiative and applied to campus for the first time through Vir’OVert (Department of Virology's environmental strategy) via a temporary operation in the Lwoff building in May 2023.

From July 20, there will be new signs in the stairwells of two pilot buildings for the scheme: the Metchnikoff building and the Yersin building in the OMICS facility. You will be encouraged to take the stairs and enjoy all the benefits you can gain by not taking the elevator – developing your balance, burning calories, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving energy.

Get ready for the challenge this summer!
