In an article published in PLoS Genetics, scientists from the Institut Pasteur and the Belgian-based Université catholique de Louvain identify the genetic and metabolic mechanisms underpinning the therapeutic action of bacteriophages for the first time. Given the worrying rise in bacterial resistance to antibiotics and the difficulties in developing effective new molecules...

Decision

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in December 2015, the Statistical Genetics Five-Year Group will be set up on September 1, 2016 within the C3BI.

Research

The Partnerships and Incentive Research Programs Department and the Department of International Affairs are pleased to announce the results of the 2016 call for proposals for PTR and ACIP programs.

International

Since 15 June, the Foundation Pasteur Japan was officially created and succeeds Association Pasteur Japan whose scholarship program allowed for 11 years to host Japanese young scientists at the Institut Pasteur. Located in Tokyo, the new foundation's objectives is to encourage research, public health and facilitate the dissemination to the general public of scientific knowledge in the life sciences field.

International

The Institut Pasteur welcomed on Friday, July 1st a large delegation of Chinese scientists and officials including the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Prof Tan Tieniu.

At the first Institut Pasteur Alumni meeting on Tuesday June 28, more than 80 current and former Institut Pasteur staff came along to reflect on how to develop the Alumni community. The meeting gave rise to lively and fruitful discussions.
