Jian Bai, a student on the Institut Pasteur PPU program, receives an outstanding achievement award from the Chinese Government

The award for "Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad" was set up by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2003 to recognize the best Chinese PhD students not receiving funding from the China Scholarship Council (CSC). This year, after two selection rounds, 500 PhD students worldwide were chosen to receive the prize, 14 of which are based in France and one on the Institut Pasteur campus, where he is completing a PhD as part of the Pasteur-Paris University (PPU) International Doctoral Program.

Jian Bai, a student carrying out his PhD within the Membrane Traffic and Cell Division Unit directed by Arnaud Echard, received his award as a winner of the 2017 edition of the prestigious Chinese Government scheme on May 30. The research of Jian Bai focuses on cell division and in particular on the identification of new genes regulating the last phase of division, the separation of the two daughter cells.

The award ceremony was held at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Paris.
