Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Prototyping Hub, affiliated to the Technical Resources and Environment Department in the Technical Department and composed of the Fab Lab and the Prototyping Workshop, has recently acquired some new equipment. It continues to be available to support you in your research and help you resolve your technical problems.
With the recent acquisition of a 5-axis machining center, the Prototyping Hub can now produce a greater number of experimental devices to help research teams involved in increasingly precise and demanding projects.
Using CAD (computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software, mechanical elements or systems needed for experiments are produced using various materials (aluminum alloys, stainless steel, titanium, etc.). These components are manufactured in close collaboration with scientists to ensure they meet their needs.
In parallel, the Fab Lab (FLIP) has tools including a laser cutter, a bead-blasting unit and 3D printers (FDM, SLA and DLP).
More details about the technologies available and the services offered by the Fab Lab
Training in using the CAD software and the machines available in the Fab Lab can be provided for anyone working at the Institut Pasteur.
Feel free to make use of these facilities, which aim to provide expert support throughout the project cycle, from needs identification to prototype design.
