Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Mobility section in the GreenTeam would like to thank you for completing its survey on mobility and business travel in November 2024. The aim was to find out how staff feel about the question of sustainable mobility for business travel and to propose new options for reducing our environmental impact.
You can see the detailed results here
Main survey findings:
• 2/3 of the 270 respondents to the survey were women. This ratio is similar to that in the survey carried out by the Food section in the GreenTeam.
• For travel over short distances (within Paris and Greater Paris), staff generally already use sustainable means (public transport rather than private car).
• The main lever in reducing the environmental impact of business travel is to reduce air travel.
• The main obstacle to traveling by train in cases where the difference in journey time is more than 4 hours are journey length, cost, and the need to spend an extra night away from home.
• Staff appear to be generally in favor of the principle of introducing a carbon budget for business travel, provided it is distributed fairly according to the employee's role.
• Raising individual awareness of these issues and promoting sustainable modes of transport are preferable to stricter measures.
Various areas for improvement are under consideration following this survey and discussions will be held with the departments concerned. The Mobility section in the GreenTeam will share the results of these discussions with you shortly.
