Creation of the Consultative Innovation Committee

The development of research applications is one of the objectives of the Institut Pasteur's 2019-2023 Strategic Plan.

On November 29, 2018, to support the Institut Pasteur's efforts in this area, the President set up a Consultative Innovation Committee (CCI) composed of scientists from the Institut Pasteur and members of the various sections of the Research Applications and Industrial Relations Department (DARRI).

The CCI is chaired by the Institut Pasteur President, with the Director of DARRI serving as vice-chair. It is involved in various stages of the research application development process, contributing its know-how and providing a general overview of the Institut Pasteur's scientific strategy. The aim is to stimulate discussion and coordination between people with complementary expertise in the areas of science, patents, industry and markets.

The scientists on the CCI are appointed by the President for a two-year term that may be renewed.

Their three main tasks are:

  1. To take part in the meetings for filing invention disclosures alongside the inventors.

  2. To offer a reasoned opinion on each invention disclosure for which they are selected as experts. Their opinions should particularly focus on the application potential of the scientific results obtained and the competitive academic environment.

  3. To take part in the various advisory committees during the selection procedure for programs to receive internal Institut Pasteur funding.
