40 YEARS OF HIV

See the "40 years fighting HIV" film in movie theaters and on social media

To mark the anniversary of the discovery of HIV in 1983, the Institut Pasteur has produced a compelling film that looks back over the 40 years that have passed since this major scientific breakthrough.

The film, deliberately short and fast-moving, will give the public the opportunity to:

*Relive the emotions of this shared history that affects us all, as we realize the extent to which HIV/AIDS led to exclusion, isolation and discrimination – and continues to do so, both in France and worldwide.

*Understand the key role played by individuals, associations and organizations involved in HIV in combating the epidemic – and also, more broadly, in the emergence of a new way of practicing medicine and taking care of others.

*Set the record straight, finally: science is a constant battle that has an impact on lives, human suffering and the mobilization of society.

The film shows that the battle is not over and that the HIV/AIDS story is still unfolding today.

The video includes a large number of archive images that have marked the four decades since the discovery of HIV. It exists in three different formats: 90 seconds, 60 seconds and 30 seconds.

From June 7 to 20, it will be shown in more than 1,300 movie theaters across France, via Médiavision (the Elite network: Pathé Gaumont, MK2 and independent cinemas), in the 90 and 30 second versions.

It will also be featured on the Institut Pasteur's social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Tweeter, LinkedIn) from June 8 to 21 in the 60 second format, to reach even more people. Feel free to share it!
