Psychological health among early career scientists: launch of an anonymous, confidential questionnaire

Post-doctoral fellows and PhD students at the Institut Pasteur are being invited to take part in an anonymous, confidential internal survey from March 10 to 25 to assess stress levels and the health impact of stress for early career scientists.

Supported by the management team and led by the Occupational Health Department, this survey is one of the Institut Pasteur's preventive healthcare initiatives, with a particular focus on the psychological health of early career scientists. The initiative was developed collaboratively following an initial request from representatives of early career scientists, post-doctoral fellows and PhD students.

The questionnaire is designed to assess several aspects: perceived stress level, its impact on health and daily routine, and potential areas for improvement. At the end of the questionnaire, an automatically calculated score gives participants an idea of where they are on the Perceived Stress Scale.

The score obtained has no diagnostic value in itself; it serves as a pointer and you are advised to seek medical advice by contacting either the Occupational Health Department or an external professional for an individual assessment.
All responses will be processed in full compliance with medical confidentiality principles.

Following the survey, a general analysis will be carried out so that an action plan can be proposed, with the aim of offering a collective prevention strategy alongside the individual health services available for post-doctoral fellows and PhD students.

• The survey began on March 10 and will run until March 25, 2022;

• It is aimed at all post-doctoral fellows and PhD students at the Institut Pasteur (including OREX employees);

• The link is personal and can only be used once;

• The questionnaire is internal, anonymous and confidential;

• The questionnaire can be accessed on a smartphone and answers can be provided in French or English;

• The time needed to complete the questionnaire is less than 10 minutes.
