Institut Pasteur de la Guyane: a "microbiota switch" to shed light on the relationship between mosquitoes and bacteria

Bacteria requiring specific nutrients are capable of colonizing mosquito larvae and can subsequently be eliminated to produce microbiologically sterile adults. This method, published by the "Microbiota of Insect Vectors" group at the Institut Pasteur de la Guyane (Romoli et al, Nature Communications, 2021), paves the way for a detailed study of the role of the microbiota in mosquitoes.
