Establishment of the Employee Resources Group – kick-off meeting on March 7, 2023

The Institut Pasteur is pursuing the measures launched in connection with its commitment to sustainable development, especially its Green Campus – Responsible Campus program, by establishing a group of staff members who are actively committed to the environment.

To date, some 40 Institut Pasteur members have shown an interest in joining this Employee Resources Group. The aims of the community are:

•  To raise awareness on campus of the importance of environmental responsibility.

•  To improve dialog between the community and the departments involved.

•  To take account of the daily realities of all professions (scientific, administrative and support roles) so as to improve practices and encourage compliance.

•  To take part in major environmental projects (e.g. the Institut Pasteur's carbon footprint, etc.).

As announced at the conference on January 24, 2023 (about the carbon footprint and the call for applications for the ERG), a half-day kick-off meeting (held remotely because of the strikes) took place on March 7, 2023 to launch the community. It was introduced by Nathalie Denoyés.

The kick-off meeting in numbers:

•  More than 30 participants

•  Divided into 11 working groups organized around 7 sustainable development goals (SDGs)
•  80 ideas raised in the groups

Within these 11 groups, the aims of community members are:

•    To liaise between the Sustainable Development Department and the campus

•    To communicate and raise awareness about best environmental practices to reduce the impact of the Institut Pasteur's activities

•   To collect data to monitor indicators and the Institut Pasteur's response to regulatory obligations and commitments

•    To be involved in the working groups and in the introduction of measures or pilot phases for specific projects

The name of the community, initially EcoLeaders, was changed after a vote to "GreenTeam."

The efforts of the working groups will supplement the broader measures taken by the Institut Pasteur to further its environmental strategy.
