Université Paris Cité: new name and permanent Initiative of Excellence (IdEx) status

After two years as Université de Paris, the institution has now adopted a new name: Université Paris Cité.

Back in January, many of you took part in the consultation on the proposals for new names for Université de Paris.

The decree amending the legal name was signed by the French Prime Minister and published in the French Official Journal on March 4, 2022.

The new name will be progressively adopted and will be in full use by the start of the next academic year in autumn 2022. To avoid disrupting the current recruitment process for the 2022-2023 intake, the name Université de Paris will temporarily remain on the university's platforms.

But you can already adapt any administrative, legal and financial documents, as well as any papers or affiliations in scientific journals, and use the name Université Paris Cité.
An explanatory memo and a timetable for rollout will be sent out this week to the university's departments, laboratories, teaching and research units and faculties.

The new logo is online on the university website

Université Paris Cité was also permanently recognized as an IdEx (Initiative of Excellence) on March 10, 2022, on the recommendation of an international panel, confirming its position as a center of excellence for research and training in France.

The Institut Pasteur is closely involved in preparations for the new strategic action plan soon to be announced that will be supported by permanent IdEx funds and additional funding.
