Memo on permanent technicians and engineers in research units
Technicians and engineers on permanent contracts are affiliated to research units according to a quota system outlined below:

Units with a maximum staff number (ETM) of 9 or fewer: 1 engineer or technician

Units with an ETM of 10 to 18 (inclusive): 2 engineers or technicians

Units with an ETM of 19 or more: 3 engineers or technicians
In some cases, the quota of technicians/engineers may be exceeded for specific requirements (animal facility, etc.).
Exceptions may be granted on a temporary basis if the salaries of the technicians or engineers are funded by the unit. The staff concerned must leave the unit when the funding comes to an end.
If units have a higher number of technicians/engineers than this ratio, not all technicians/engineers who leave the unit will necessarily be replaced.
