Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
In 2024, the Institut Pasteur joined the new "Cap Vert" program led by the company Dominique Dutscher via its Procurement Department, which is committed to sustainability for the benefit of the environment and science.
For several years now, the Procurement Department, in conjunction with the Department of Corporate Social Responsibility and Technical Resources (DRSE-RT) and the Procurement group in the GreenTeam, has played a key role in encouraging its suppliers to actively promote their products with the lowest environmental impact (less packaging or plastic, more energy efficient) on the Institut Pasteur campus.
In 2024, as a tangible way for the Institut Pasteur to contribute to the commitments taken by the Senior Management team on sustainable development/CSR through its procurement strategy, the Institut Pasteur joined the Cap Vert program led by the company Dominique Dutscher. Through this program, Dominique Dutscher will plant a tree for every €500 of "GoGreen" products purchased.
The "GoGreen" products purchased by the Institut Pasteur in 2024 will lead to a total of 908 trees being planted as part of an official reforestation project. Find out more at www.dutscher.com. This practical measure is a key driver to tackle climate change (in addition to the carbon reduction plan that will be published on ePasteur in the coming weeks), as every tree planted absorbs carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gases.
In 2025, our aim is to continue to get involved in more sustainable initiatives with all the Institut Pasteur's partners. We would strongly encourage you to opt for GoGreen products from Dominique Dutscher, as well as environmentally friendly products from other suppliers, which are becoming increasingly available.
Let's work together to make environmentally responsible choices the norm so that we can make it to a thousand trees planted in 2025!
Reducing plastic consumables
This initiative echoes the pilot schemes led by the Plastics group in the GreenTeam aimed at finding alternatives to the excessive use of plastic for laboratory work. As well as reducing our usage and recycling, the GreenTeam would encourage you to look out for green products in suppliers' catalogs so that we can move towards more moderate levels of plastic consumption.
