2024 Brain Week: "Microbiota and health," conference at the Institut Pasteur on March 16

On March 16, the Institut Pasteur is organizing a conference for the general public in the CIS entitled "Microbiota and health," from 2 to 5pm.

The gut microbiota is composed of approximately 1,000 billion microorganisms (bacteria, archaea, viruses and fungi) and can weigh up to 2kg in adults. Most of these microorganisms and the substances they synthesize are essential for our health. The aim of this conference organized by the Institut Pasteur is to review the latest knowledge on the range of functions performed by the gut microbiota, to examine how to take care of and restore the microbiota, and to look at the latest progress in preventing and treating certain diseases.

It will be attended by recognized specialists in research fields related to the microbiota, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, addiction, microbiota medicine and mental health:

•    Gérard Eberl (Institut Pasteur)
•    Gabriel Lepousez (Institut Pasteur)
•    Anne Marie Cassard-Doulcier (Université Paris Cité)
•    Benoit Chassaing (Inserm)
•    Joël Doré (Inrae)
