Implementation of the Jobs and Skills Guide : staff member positioning

Following the negotiations with the Institut Pasteur management and unions, and concluding the first round of negotiations on forward-looking management of jobs and skills (GPEC), the Jobs and Skills Guide has now been adopted and will be incorporated into the Institut Pasteur company agreement. It will be officially implemented on June 1, 2016.

The implementation of the Guide on campus involves positioning each staff member within a category, a professional sector, a generic job profile and a field (for those concerned). All staff members will soon receive an individual email informing them of their positioning.

We would remind you that this initial employee positioning has been decided by the HR teams in cooperation with each employee's line manager.

The new job mapping system divides jobs into three categories (Research, Health, and Administrative & Technical), which are in turn split into six professional sectors. Jobs are linked with existing groups and/or pay scales. This approach bridges the gap between the former job titles and the new descriptions provided under the mapping system. Employees are placed within these new generic job profiles but their pay scale and group remains unchanged. The process has no impact on professional positioning or salary level.

The next steps in the implementation of the Guide are as follows:

  • By the end of May, any staff who feel that they have been placed in the wrong professional sector and/or field are encouraged to speak to their line manager and their local HR contact to evaluate their situation. Changes can be made up to May 30, 2016. The local HR contacts are responsible for taking on board any problems raised in this area;

  • At the beginning of June, all staff will receive a letter informing them of their official positioning within the job profile that corresponds to their professional activities. This positioning will also be indicated on pay slips for the month of June;

  • Any staff who wish to do so will have until June 10 to lodge a request, with supporting evidence, to the positioning committee; the committee office will examine the admissibility of each request and contact those concerned by June 17. Those employees who are eligible to present their case before the positioning committee will have until September 30 to submit a full detailed report. Decisions will be made during October;

  • The Jobs and Skills Guide will be put into practice in the 2016 annual appraisals and career development reviews.
