The relationship between food sensitization and the development of the gut microbiota during the first year of life

Increasing evidence supports the role of early-life gut microbiota in the development of atopic diseases, but changes to the gut microbiota during infancy and their impact on food sensitization remain under-researched. Teams from the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole, in collaboration with Canadian scientists and with the help of the CHILD Cohort Study, have identified four developmental trajectories for the gut microbiota depending on birth mode and ethnicity.
