DIM ELICIT presented in a series of educational videos produced by L'Esprit Sorcier

This week, DIM ELICIT published a presentation video on its YouTube channel produced in collaboration with the educational media platform "L'Esprit Sorcier." This first step is the launchpad for a series of several educational videos, supported by the Greater Paris region, with the aim of presenting the little known research topics in this Field of Major Interest (DIM) in an attractive, easy-to-understand way for the general public, especially for science students.

DIM ELICIT (Empowering Life Sciences with Innovative Technologies), jointly coordinated by the Institut Pasteur (Jean-Christophe Olivo-Marin and Élodie Brient-Litzler) and the Pierre-Gilles-de-Gennes Institute for Microfluidics (IPGG, Patrick Tabeling), aims to support the use and development of innovative technologies for research in life sciences in the Greater Paris region. This DIM is one of 13 Fields of Major Interest identified by the Greater Paris region for the 2017-2020 period.

In February, DIM ELICIT, committed to the projects it is funding and keen to raise interest among the general public and science students in its research topics and projects, embarked on a partnership with the educational platform L'Esprit Sorcier. Founded by Frédéric Courant and some members of the team from the educational TV show "C'est pas sorcier," the website lespritsorcier.org is an educational media platform that aims to give everyone, regardless of age, the keys to a better understanding of the world and the ability to forge an opinion on major issues in science and society.

Several videos have already been produced and others are in progress. The first video published this week is a presentation of DIM ELICIT. The next videos will provide an opportunity to discover each of its research topics (microfluidics, biophotonics and waves, and image analysis) and the research applications it is funding, and to meet junior scientists working on these topics to find out more about their daily activities and how they got to where they are.

The videos will initially be broadcast on the DIM ELICIT YouTube channel and social media accounts (LinkedIn and Twitter). Between now and October, the collection will be published on the L'Esprit Sorcier YouTube channel and website. This is a great way of opening up science to society, one of the major commitments in the Institut Pasteur's Strategic Plan.
