Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The European Week for Waste Reduction is coordinated in France by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME). Sessions will be held on the Institut Pasteur campus from 11.30am to 2pm on Thursday November 23 and Friday November 24, on the terrace of the company restaurant.
The focus of the 2017 edition is reuse:
Products can be reused for the same purpose they were designed for. To give you the chance to see this concept in practice, a "recovery point" will be set up for you to drop off and take away unwanted scientific and administrative equipment.
The notion of reuse also involves making use of existing products in a different way. To give you some ideas, come and see how wood from storage pallets can be turned into garden or indoor furniture.
Over the two days, the Quality, Environment and Sustainable Development Department, which is leading the project on campus, will be giving you the opportunity to get involved in the launch of a new recycling stream. Thanks to a partnership between BIC® and TerraCycle®, a voluntary pen recycling system is being introduced on campus. By bringing along your empty pens, felt-tips and highlighters (any brand), you can make your own contribution to the purchase of garden furniture that you can use during your lunch break – enjoy your picnic with BIC®! You will never guess just what can be done with recycled pens!
Alongside an exhibition on waste, ADEME will be providing a number of guides on topics such as how to be environmentally friendly at work, the basics of composting and how to address the problem of food waste.
