Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
As announced in the newsletter on February 5, 2021, ESCP Business School and the Institut Pasteur have joined forces to boost innovation and foster the development of companies in the field of life sciences and health.
The two institutions wish to pursue this aim by developing entrepreneurship programs aimed at scientists, physicians, healthcare professionals, veterinarians, entrepreneurs, and managers and leaders in life sciences and health. The goal of these educational programs is to encourage global talent by providing future-oriented educational methods that are relevant for the digital era, combined with professional knowledge and practical training.
Since the partnership was signed at the beginning of the year, the two parties have set up an international program, the Advanced Master Program in Life Sciences and Health Management, or APiL, to be taught in English, which will be available from the start of the 2022 academic year.
The aim of the program is to support recent graduates, PhD students and early career employees wishing to launch an entrepreneurial, innovative or business development venture in the life sciences and health industry.
It is divided into three parts:
The first part of the program is composed of 6 online tailor-made modules from the EMIB (Executive Master in International Business)
The second part of the program is devoted to a specialized curriculum in life sciences and health
The third part of the program is associated with the writing and defense of a final individual academic thesis or a fully-completed business plan.
The APiL program will include in-person and remote courses, seminars, webinars, workshops and meetings, thereby offering a variety of different formats to suit the range of the subjects under study.
It will be led jointly by Professor Dominique Franco, a special advisor in the Department of Education at the Institut Pasteur, and Professor Frédéric Jallat, Academic Director of the MSc in Biopharmaceutical Management at ESCP Business School. As Professor Jallat explains, "This outstanding partnership represents one of the best possible responses to the crucial yet largely unanswered question of how to transform scientific innovation into successful ventures in life sciences and health."
The program was officially launched at a ceremony held on the ESCP campus on November 16, which emphasized the strength and synergy of the partnership between the two institutions. The ceremony was attended by:
- Monica Sala, Program Director
- Dominique Franco, APiL Scientific Director
- JongEun Ihm, APiL Administrative Director
- Isabelle Buckle, representative of Stewart Cole for this event and Director of the Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department (DARRI), which is one of two partners in the Institut Pasteur's Department of Education (together with the MAASCC) involved internally in coordinating the APiL program
