Hairdressers Against AIDS campaign in support of the Institut Pasteur

Hairdressers Against AIDS is a worldwide program developed by L'Oréal Professional Products in partnership with UNESCO. Each year, L'Oréal Professional Products rallies its community of hairdressers to share the message of prevention in as many salons as possible, reminding people that HIV/AIDS is still a vitally important issue.

This unique program, launched 15 years ago, is now run in 37 countries with the cooperation of more than 600,000 hairdressers. The 2015 campaign will use innovative digital methods to raise awareness as widely as possible about the vital message of prevention and education and to encourage public support for the Institut Pasteur's research on this disease. For the first time, a fundraising appeal will be launched as part of the campaign.

Social networks will play an important role in encouraging people to join the community and get involved. Two invitations will be launched: firstly, with your temporary red ribbon tattoo or a red ribbon drawn on your hand, take a picture of yourself pretending to cut a lock of hair with your fingers. Post the photo on social networks and on the Hairdressers Against AIDS Instagram page. The second invitation is to make a donation to help the Institut Pasteur research teams involved in HIV/AIDS research.

This partnership in support of the Institut Pasteur, which L'Oréal Professional Products is also supporting financially, was officially launched on November 24 and will run for three years. The face of this year's campaign is Michaela Muller-Trutwin and the members of her HIV, Inflammation and Persistence Unit.
