Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The latest issue of the quarterly newsletter for Institut Pasteur donors - the "Lettre de l'Institut Pasteur" (LIP) - contains a special feature on a seasonal infection that can be more severe than often thought: influenza.
Every winter, several thousand people in France suffer from flu, which claims 250,000 to 300,000 lives across the world each year.
The Institut Pasteur plays a key role in monitoring influenza viruses and combating the disease via the Influenza National Reference Center that it coordinates. It also carries out research to investigate the mechanisms by which influenza viruses evolve, and is closely involved in efforts to develop a "universal" vaccine.
All the various divisions, departments and units recently received copies of this new issue. Please contact Evelyne Aubin if you require additional copies.
