p035615.png p004209.png On October 26, the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) published its list of the 23 scientists selected for the 2015 Young Investigators Award. The winners include Nolwenn Jouvenet, who leads a team in the Viral Genomics and Vaccination Unit, and Romain Koszul, Head of the Spatial Regulation of Genomes 5-year group.

These Young Investigators are chosen from among the best group leaders in Europe. Under the program, they will receive financial and practical support to help them further develop their group. A key aspect of the program is networking: the Young Investigators are given access to a vibrant, wide-ranging network of 365 scientists, all current and former recipients of EMBO awards.

Nolwenn Jouvenet and Romain Koszul were both recognized for their promising research, Nolwenn for her work on viral attenuation and pathogenesis and Romain for his research on chromosome dynamics in microorganisms. They are the first young scientists at the Institut Pasteur to receive this award. This year, of the 174 applications submitted, 13% of the scientists from 10 different countries were selected.
