Commemoration

A look back at the ceremony on September 27, 2019 – download the President's address

On September 27, the Institut Pasteur commemorated the 124th anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death.

Several of you came along to attend this traditional ceremony. The address given by Institut Pasteur President Stewart Cole focused particularly on the Institut Pasteur's fundamental values: solidarity and transferring knowledge. The event also provided an opportunity to pay tribute to former Pasteurians – some well known, some working behind the scenes, both scientists and administrative staff, people of all nationalities – who played a major part in developing the Institut Pasteur's identity and enhancing its visibility. These include Jules Bordet and Agnès Ullmann, for whom special tribute ceremonies will be held in the near future.

Stewart Cole also expressed his condolences, on behalf of the Institut Pasteur, to the family of Jacques Chirac. During his political career, the former French President demonstrated his commitment to the Institut Pasteur on several occasions.
