2020 edition of the "20km de Paris": take part in a unique virtual race in support of the Institut Pasteur
The 2020 edition of the "20km de Paris" road race, the 42nd in the event's history, will be unlike any other!
Although the health crisis led to the cancellation of many sports events at a very early stage, the organizers of this prestigious sporting challenge were determined for the race to go ahead. They have invested a huge amount of energy and imagination to turn this year's edition into a virtual race.
Over a four-day period from October 8 to 11, regular participants, elite runners, amateurs and anyone who wants to join in – including those who prefer to walk – can sign up and cover the 20km in their local neighborhood, wherever that may be. Each participant can complete their 20km by pounding urban pavements, tearing up forest trails, making their way through rolling countryside or striding along the beach, from one corner of the planet to another – and they will all be linked via an online system to measure the distance covered.
The organizers of the 20km de Paris are all too aware of the ongoing global pandemic and the immediate response of the Institut Pasteur's teams to the COVID-19 crisis, and they wanted this unique edition of the race to be in aid of the Institut Pasteur. It's yet another reason to get involved!
For each person that signs up, the organizing team will donate €5 to the Institut Pasteur. It's a real demonstration of what can be achieved when the values of sport and research come together!
To encourage the Institut Pasteur's own employees to take part, the organizers are also offering 60 free entries to form an Institut Pasteur team that will run for Pasteurdon. Further practical information will be provided in a future edition of the newsletter as soon as the Institut Pasteur group has been set up.
