Save the date for the Institut Pasteur Young Scientists Conference and the award ceremony on September 20

Dear colleagues,

Each year, the senior management team and the Executive Scientific Division are holding the Institut Pasteur Young Scientists Conference. This event is an opportunity to present and discuss the science carried out by early career scientists at the Institut Pasteur and to look ahead to the exciting future in store for research.

This in-person event will take place on September 20, from 10am to 12 noon, in the CIS auditorium.

Chaired by Christophe d'Enfert, the conference will give several young heads of research units, especially U5s - Miria Ricchetti, Laurent Debarbieux, Darragh Duffy, Francesca Di Nunzio - and G5s - Camille Berthelot, Thibaut Brunet - the opportunity to present their teams, their research and the advances they have made in their respective areas of expertise :

•  Miria Ricchetti: Accelerated and physiological ageing: links and molecular mechanisms
Laurent Debarbieux: The powerful but complex use of bacteriophages to target bacteria resistant to antibiotics
•  Darragh Duffy: Understanding immune diversity in health and disease
•  Francesca Di Nunzio: On the road of a new biological mechanism for the virus-host coexistence
•  Camille Berthelot: Tracing the evolution of gene regulation and the emergence of new traits
•  Thibaut Brunet: The evolutionary origin of animal shapes: insights from our closest unicellular relatives

This event will also feature the award ceremony for the Institut Pasteur Young Scientist Prize, I introduced in 2018 for the Institut Pasteur's 130th anniversary. The awards will be presented during the conference to a PhD student and a post-doctoral fellow who were first authors of high-level research papers published during the year.

We look forward to seeing you at this event, which prepares the science of tomorrow!

Sincerly,

Pr. Stewart Cole,
President
