Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Hub of bioinformatics and biostatistics was created in January 2015 in order to help research units and platforms of the campus to design their experiments and perform their bioinformatical and statistical analyses, in particular for projects involving large scale datasets such as NGS data. Ten new highly skilled engineers have been recruited recently, they have diverse and complementary knowledge and skills and can address a large variety of bioinformatical and statistical questions.
The Hub is now able to handle long-term and ambitious projects, in particular projects with national or international grants such as ANR, PTR, ERC, … The next deadline to submit an intention letter to the ANR is October 13, 2015. If you wish to collaborate with the Hub within an ANR grants (or in any other ambitious project), please contact Christophe Malabat (christophe.malabat@pasteur.fr) or Marie-Agnès Dillies (marie-agnes.dillies@pasteur.fr) or use the dedicated form for projects calling on the C3BI website. Any project from other institute within the RIIP are more than welcome.
On October 20, the Citech is hosting an internal seminar on CRISPR systems and technology, with a dozen short presentations by campus scientists working on the subject.
The morning will be devoted to studying CRISPRs in various bacteria, and will begin with a presentation by David Bikard (Synthetic Biology G5). The afternoon will focus on using CRISPRs for eukaryotic genome editing in various applications. The afternoon session will start at 1.30pm, with a presentation of the principles of this technology by Nadia Guettari (Sigma Aldrich) based on a more didactic approach and aimed particularly at students or any other people wishing to familiarize themselves with these new tools.
The seminar will conclude with a discussion led by the Citech on the value of creating a CRISPR service for the campus (access to cell banks, line creation, screening, etc.). Come along and take part!
The seminar will be held on October 20 from 10am to 5.30pm in the Jules Bordet room.
The international scientific symposium, will be held in Paris from 14 to 16 October 2015 and will gather scientists from all around the world.
In order to launch new collaborations, the Department of International Affairs - RIIP and the centers will organize a "breakthrough" session on Friday, October 16, 2015 (14:00-16:00).
♦ What is the "breakthrough session"?
You will have 3 minutes to speak in front of the audience of the conference followed by 30 minutes during the interactive coffee break to interact with new partners.
♦ Why should you participate?
- Because 8 out of 13 last year speakers found new partners thanks to this session
- Because the Pasteur international network is a « unique asset » and you should take advantage of it
- Because it will helps you identify partners to apply to PTR grants
- Because your partner from the network can win a flight to come back in February for O5 challenge (more about it soon).
♦ How to participate?
As soon as possible, send a short email to breakthrough@pasteur.fr mentioning your interest.
Then please send a maximum one page very informal proposal where you will suggest a project and seek for a potential partner within the Network, using the enclosed form.
♦ Who should participate?
Every researcher is encouraged (Lab head, young investigators, doc, post-doc, engineers, technicians ...) to submit their ideas.
Do not hesitate to have a look at the RIIP database to know more about the expertise in the Network.
