Event "Boosting research to fight AMR (antimicrobial resistance): public policies and financial incentives" on September 26

We would remind you that you are invited to a round table on the question of antimicrobial resistance to be held during former British minister Jim O'Neill's visit to the Institut Pasteur. The discussions will particularly focus on the economic challenges and above all funding for new therapeutic strategies. Jim O'Neill is an MP and economist who is known for his role as author of the Review on Antimicrobial Resistance, which raised international public awareness about this important issue.

The opening address will be given by the President Stewart Cole, and will be followed by an introduction by Françoise Barré Sinoussi, laureate of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine and Honorary President of the Institut Pasteur International Network. This will be followed by a round table with the participation of Jim O’Neill and several well-known figures in the field.

Round table program:

  • Lord Jim O’Neill (economist and author of the Review on Antimicrobial Resistance)

  • Céline Pulcini (AMR coordinator, French Ministry of Health)

  • Laurent Fraisse (Executive Vice President for Infectious Diseases R&D, Evotec)

  • Yazdan Yazdanpanah (Director, Aviesan Institute of Immunology, Inflammation, Infectiology, and Microbiology)

  • Colm Leonard (Consultant Clinical Adviser at the Centre for Health Technology, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Evaluation)

  • Marie Petit (BEAM, Biotech companies in Europe combating AntiMicrobial Resistance, Alliance)

The closing address will be given by Edward Llewellyn (British ambassador to France)

The event will be held in the François Jacob lecture hall at 12 noon and will be followed by a cocktail reception.

We hope that as many as possible will be able to attend this event, which focuses on one of the priority areas for the Institut Pasteur over the coming years as identified in the Strategic Plan.
