Official opening of the Institut PRAIRIE on October 2

The aim of the Institut PRAIRIE, which has the support of industry partners Amazon, Deepmind, Engie, Facebook, Faurecia, GE Healthcare, Google, Idemia, Microsoft, NAVER LABS, Nokia Bell Labs, Pfizer, PSA Group, Sanofi, SUEZ and Valeo, is to create a center of excellence for artificial intelligence in Paris.

Led by the CNRS, Inria, the Institut Pasteur, the Université de Paris and PSL University, this Paris-based 3IA project was selected by the international panel in May under the call for proposals for the creation of Interdisciplinary Institutes of Artificial Intelligence (3IA) issued by French President Emmanuel Macron during the "AI for Humanity" summit in March 2018.

The purpose of the institute is to:

  • make a significant contribution to advancing knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) circulating freely within the international scientific community, through basic research conducted by outstanding partner institutes in France ad worldwide;

  • conduct research directed towards businesses and applications with the backing of industrial partners, themselves often also world leaders in their field;

  • contribute to training in the field of artificial intelligence;

  • make a genuine socio-economic impact.

The opening ceremony for the institute will take place on October 2 from 9am to 6pm at Paris-Dauphine University. The event is free but prior registration is required for organizational reasons.
