Call for proposals with the CGH: Interdisciplinary Research Projects on Emerging Infectious Diseases

The Institut Pasteur’s Outbreak Investigation Task Force (OITF) within the Center for Global Health is launching a call for collaborative, transversal and interdisciplinary projects aimed at enhancing understanding of emerging infectious diseases (EIDs). Emerging infectious diseases continue to pose a major threat to public health, as exemplified by the H1N1pdm09 influenza pandemic in 2009, the recent Ebola outbreaks in West and Central Africa, and the Zika epidemic in the Americas. A multidisciplinary approach to studying host, pathogen, and environmental factors contributing to infectious disease emergence is critical to improving outbreak detection, control, and prevention.

The aim of this call is to provide small grants to investigators willing to gather preliminary data on innovative approaches in the area of host-vector-pathogen interactions, microbial detection and characterization, pathogen transmission and epidemic dynamics, and social and human practices driving global pathogenic threats – all core activities of the wider INCEPTION project. Funded through the INCEPTION program and the ‘Institut Convergence des Investissements d’Avenir,’ selected proposals will receive funding of €10,000 for 12 months from the date of the award.

Submission deadline: October 5, 2018 5pm, CET

Selection of proposals: October 26, 2018

Funding period: December 1, 2018 – November 30, 2019 (12 months)
