Following a proposal from the President, the Board of Governors Bureau, which met on August 26, approved the appointment of Graham Wright as the Institut Pasteur's new Vice-President Technology. Graham Wright will take office in January 2027, replacing Laurent Essioux, who is serving as acting Vice-President Technology since December 2025.
 

Graham Wright obtained an interdisciplinary PhD in biology and physics from the University of Edinburgh in 2007, and he also holds an MBA from Warwick Business School. In 2007, his career took him to Heidelberg, Germany, as a visiting scientist, en route to Singapore, where he became Head of the Imaging Department at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory. In 2010, he joined A*STAR, Singapore's public-sector Agency for Science, Technology & Research, initially as Manager of the Microscopy Unit and then as Director of the Microscopy Platform from 2018 to 2024. In 2019, he also became Chief Technology Officer of A*STAR's Research Support Center, which offers high-level scientific, technical, professional and operational support for research. He became Director of the Research Support Center in 2021. Graham Wright has more than 15 years of strategic and operational experience in leading shared technological infrastructure designed to support international biomedical research. He is known for his skill in devising and implementing strategies aligned with the scientific priorities of several research institutes. He has supervised significant portfolios related to state-of-the-art technologies and coordinated large-scale investments in research infrastructure. Graham Wright has considerable scientific expertise and a keen business sense. He has been a member of several boards at national and international level, and has played a key role in providing career support for technology professionals and developing collaborative and multidisciplinary research.

Graham Wright will become a member of the Institut Pasteur's Senior Management Board and report to the Vice-President Scientific Affairs. He will take office in January 2027. He will focus on strengthening and building up the Institut Pasteur's state-of-the-art technical facilities as a means of supporting scientific excellence. In line with the Pasteur 2030 Strategic Plan, he will be involved in developing and steering the Institut Pasteur's technology strategy, working in close collaboration with all the entities and individuals in the Pasteurian scientific community. He will develop close links to foster interdisciplinary cooperation and equipment sharing. One of the tasks of the new Vice-President Technology will be to adapt the organizational structure of the Technology Department to reflect the ambitions of Pasteur 2030, while also adjusting the business models of the units within the department. This process will be closely related to the ongoing discussions and consultations on measures to restore financial sustainability to the Institut Pasteur's overall business model.
