Tribute to Louis Pasteur: a look back at the ceremony on September 28

On Wednesday September 28, the Institut Pasteur commemorated the 127th anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur. This internal event had a special resonance this year, given the ongoing celebrations for the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth. For the first time since the pandemic, the ceremony was held in person.

Given the particular context, Stewart Cole, President, took the opportunity of this tribute to focus on young people and the future. Despite the major challenges and threats currently facing young people (pandemics, climate change, inflation and war), Stewart Cole recalled the steps the Institut Pasteur management has taken to support the youth of the campus, to whom he wished to express a message of encouragement and confidence.

The event also served as an opportunity to pay tribute to all Pasteurians – some well known, some working behind the scenes, both scientists and administrative staff – who have played a major part in developing the Institut Pasteur's identity and enhancing its visibility over the years.
