Upcoming DEI seminars
In line with the Institut Pasteur’s efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), the DEI community is pleased to invite you to the upcoming DEI seminar on September 10, on the topic "The combined effect of gender and social background on success in entrance exams: the example of the ENA external exam."
This presentation analyzes the selection processes for students at Sciences Po during the external entrance exam for the elite French grande école ENA. Based on original data, it will show that the proportion of women decreases at each stage of the competitive process: they are under-represented in the preparatory year compared to the proportion of women in the Sciences Po student population; fewer women enroll for the ENA exam than men; they are eliminated more at the admissibility stage; and finally fewer are admitted. This reduction at each stage is more noticeable for women from modest backgrounds.
The guest speaker for this event will be Hélène Périvier, an economist at Sciences Po Paris, coordinator of the "Evaluation of social and family policies" unit, head and co-founder of the PRESAGE program, a member of the executive committee of the "Gender City" initiative and president of the High Family Council (Haut Conseil de la famille, de l'enfance et de l'âge).

Launch of the Pasteur Queer Club
In its ongoing efforts to foster a sense of belonging and integration within our Pasteur community, the DEI department is pleased to announce the launch of the very first DEI club: The Pasteur Queer Club.
The idea of this club is to provide a safe and welcoming space at the Institut Pasteur for LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, and everyone who embraces diversity. Cultural and social events will be organized to focus on socializing, networking, and raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues in science and academia.
To carry out these activities and to ensure these events are well-supported and impactful, an officially approved budget will be used.
Amaia Dominguez Belloso, president of the Pasteur Queer Club, and Mariangeles Kovacs Arevalo, its treasurer, invite you to attend the club's launch on 17 September at 5pm in the Monod building on the 7th floor (pizza and drinks will be available).
If you would like to find out more about the ideas and aims of this exciting new initiative, please come along.
You can register to be a member and get all the info following this link.
The DEI department encourages everyone to get involved, whether by participating in club activities, attending events, or simply showing your support, to build a more inclusive and integrated Pasteur community.
Launch of the HBA Ambassador Program at the Pasteur Institute
The Institut Pasteur is actively committed to promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. As part of this commitment, the development of inclusive leadership within our institution is one of our top priorities.
It is with this aspiration that the Ambassador program, proposed by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), was launched in July 2024 by The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) department with the support of the Human Resources department.
Thirty participants, from diverse backgrounds combining science and research support functions, were selected for the quality of their applications and their potential to become true ambassadors of change, committed to promoting a more inclusive environment within the institution.
Congratulations and thanks all the ambassadors selected for the 2024 cohort!
This first cohort of ambassadors will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by leading group initiatives aimed at laying the foundations for a lasting impact at the Institut Pasteur.
These projects are centered around three key themes, all focused on promoting a work environment where the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion are at the heart of our actions.
1. One Pasteur: Strengthening collaboration between different departments by facilitating understanding and communication between the various services and professions at the Institut Pasteur.
2. Close Diversity Gaps: Ensuring that every individual benefits from equal opportunities for success and development.
3. Stand for Exemplarity: Promoting exemplary behavior in inclusive leadership to encourage a culture of excellence, respect, and equity in the workplace.
The DEI department looks forward to sharing with you the progress and successes of these projects, which together will help shape a more inclusive future.
