Outreach, science and society: join the Teams group... and secure funding for your outreach project!
Scientific outreach is a collective endeavor. A new collaborative space is now available to encourage discussions among teams on campus, and there are funding opportunities to support potential projects.
A new Teams channel for scientific outreach
Are you interested in links between science and society?
Are you already involved in scientific outreach, either at the Institut Pasteur or in another context? Would you like to chat to others about the growing lack of trust in science?
Join the "Science and Society" group on Teams now: General | Science and Society | Microsoft Teams
Aims of the channel:
To create a community for discussions about the challenges of bringing science to society
To share and monitor the latest developments on these topics
To raise awareness of your outreach events and initiatives
To share resources, formats and workshops (especially aimed at children)
To join forces in support of events reaching out to the public or supporting science (like "Stand Up for Science")
This initiative is led by:
Clémentine Schilte (Department of Education)
Kadidia Siméon (Department of Communications and Public Affairs)
Emma Leprêtre and Laurence Isnard (Pasteur Museum, Department of Communications and Public Affairs)
François Bontems ("Science and Society" course)
The aim is to work together to foster a culture of dialog between science and society on campus.
We would remind you that there are grants available to support scientific outreach projects on campus
Since 2020, the French National Research Agency (ANR) has offered support for communication and scientific outreach initiatives via the SAPS-CSTI calls for proposals (Science with and for society (SAPS) – Scientific, technical and industrial culture (CSTI)).
The Institut Pasteur can fund outreach projects with grants of up to €5,000 per project.
Aim of the SAPS-CSTI calls
To support initiatives aimed at promoting scientific culture among non-scientists – the general public, schools, associations, etc.
Winners of ANR grants are given priority, but any non-allocated funds can be redistributed to other eligible projects on campus.
Eligibility criteria
Projects must:
Be aimed at a non-academic audience
Be in line with the requirements of the SAPS-CSTI call for proposals
Reflect the Institut Pasteur's research topics
Include a detailed report at the end of the project
Workshops, courses and scientific conferences for researchers are not eligible.
