The next Startup Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, 9am in room 11, on the second floor of the Émile Roux Pavilion.

The theme will be “Pitch your company: How to prepare your pitch to convince investors” with Marielle Mailhes, Investment Director of the Life Science Team at Bpifrance.

Marielle Mailhes began her professional journey in the laboratory.  After graduating as a Biology Engineer from the University of Technology of Compiègne (a prestigious public grande école) in 1997, she spent two years training research labs in the field of proteins and enzymes.  She then transitioned into strategy consulting with Alma Consulting Group, where she refined her analytical skills over nearly five years.    Her expertise deepened when she joined OSEO Innovation (now part of Bpifrance). Initially serving as a European Project Manager, she navigated complex collaborative funding networks like EUROTRANS-BIO and led initiatives in key markets. Over the years, Marielle progressed to become a Project Officer for Industrial Strategic Initiatives within the biotechnology sector, shaping policy and funding strategies at a national level. By 2013, Marielle had risen to head the Health Department at Bpifrance, Île-de-France, where she managed the health funding team and evaluated high-stakes projects for industrial strategic programs.
Since 2017, Marielle has served as Investment Director for the Life Science Team, where she focuses on venture capital, investing in early-stage companies that develop innovative therapeutics and medical technologies to address significant unmet medical needs.

In this session, Marielle will draw on her extensive experience to shed light on the investor’s perspective. She will guide us through what truly matters when presenting a project, detailing investors’ expectations and identifying common pitfalls that can derail a funding round. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from a key leader in biotech investment at Bpifrance.

Join us to explore the essential elements of a winning pitch and build the confidence needed to secure the funding for your innovative project.
Participation is free, but registration is required to organise effectively. Please register by emailing  suaw@pasteur.fr.

The “Startup Breakfast”, a monthly seminar, held at the Institut Pasteur, is designed to introduce you to the various aspects of creating and developing life science companies, and the associated challenges. Eight sessions will be organized throughout the academic year 2025-2026 on a specific theme presented by an external expert. These friendly, informal meetings will enable you to interact easily with the speaker. They will be followed by a “networking” where you will be able to exchange ideas amongst yourselves and with startup alumni who will be able to share their experience
