New unit: Ecology of Pathogens
Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in June 2026, in July 2026 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Ecology of Pathogens (Écologie des agents pathogènes) Unit as from September 1, 2026.
The unit is part of the Department of Global Health and will be led by Henrik Salje.
The unit will be established for a ten-year period with an interim assessment by the Scientific Council after a first five-year term.

Appointment of the Deputy Director and a Project Leader in the Scientific Careers and Assessment Department
On July 1, 2026, Nadia Naffakh, CNRS Research Director (DR1), was appointed as Deputy Director for Scientific Careers and Assessment, reporting to Didier Mazel.
In this role, she will supervise assessment of the scientific activities of researchers and engineers conducted by the COMESP (the Committee for the Assessment of Staff Scientific Activities) with a view to their promotion or recruitment.
On July 1, 2026, senior research engineer Ahmed Haouz was appointed as a Project Leader in the Scientific Careers and Assessment Department. He will specifically be tasked with supervising assessment of the scientific activities of engineers conducted by the COMESP within the remit of Deputy Director Nadia Naffakh.
