From cholera in low-income regions to legionellosis in water systems in industrialized countries, water plays a key role in the transmission of infectious diseases. This webinar offers an overview of the major microbiological, environmental and public health challenges related to water quality, addressing concepts including fecal contamination in developing countries and technical water in modern environments.

Program:

  • The most common infectious diseases related to water
  • Fecal contamination: health challenges in developing countries
  • Microbiological risks linked to water systems in industrialized countries
  • Pathogen emergence in water reservoirs
  • Live discussion and question session

At this upcoming session, you will have the opportunity to be online with Chloé Dupont, a bacteriologist at Montpellier University Hospital and the University of Montpellier. As co-director of the Waterborne Infectious Diseases MOOC, her research particularly focuses on the circulation of emerging pathogens with an impact on human health. Adopting a One Health approach incorporating human, animal and environmental dimensions, she explores the transmission of infectious diseases via waterborne environments and the spread of multidrug-resistant bacteria.

The webinar will be held online via Zoom in French on Thursday December 4, from 2 to 3.30pm. (45-minute presentation + 30 minutes for questions)
