The Grants Office is pleased to invite you to a virtual roundtable dedicated to the European Research Council (ERC), on June 25 at 11am via Teams. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to engage with ERC awardees and panel members from the Pasteurian ERC community, who will share their experience and provide practical advice for succeeding in this highly competitive selection process. We are also pleased to welcome, on this occasion, Nadia El Mjiyad, representative of the ERC Executive Agency, who works in the Scientific Department of the ERCEA.

Why participate?

ERC grants are among the most prestigious research funding opportunities in Europe, supporting innovative projects at the frontier of knowledge, with scientific excellence as the sole selection criterion. More than €2.7 billion will be allocated to these grants in 2026. These grants are open to researchers of all nationalities, provided that the project is hosted by a European institution or by an institution associated with Horizon Europe. Changes to the ERC Work Programme 2026 include: a new grant scheme - ERC Plus, adjustments to the length and structure of research proposals, an extension of the eligibility criteria for Starting and  Consolidator Grant applicants, the introduction of an additional resubmission restriction for Synergy Grant applicants and a doubling of the additional funding to encourage Principal Investigators based in non-associated third countries to move to the EU or an associated country to take up their ERC grant.

The roundtable will cover all ERC categories. You will learn about the specifics of each call, the expectations of evaluation panels, and strategies for structuring a competitive application.
