A strategic partnership to boost entrepreneurship: the Institut Pasteur joins the HEC Challenge+ program
On November 20, 2025, the Institut Pasteur formalized a partnership with HEC Paris to become an associated academic partner of the HEC Challenge+ program. This alliance is a major milestone in our commitment to supporting innovation and technology transfer.

What is HEC Challenge+?
HEC Challenge+ is a flagship program set up in 1990 to support the creation of innovative companies with strong growth potential. Its unique approach combines training, guidance and personalized support over eight months to help project leaders build a sound business plan. With more than a thousand projects supported, seven IPOs and more than €3 billion raised, it is a clear leader in terms of networking and expertise.
What this partnership means for you, Institut Pasteur staff!
This partnership opens up exclusive opportunities for the Institut Pasteur's teams:
- Planning to set up an innovative company?
The Startup Unit in the Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department (DARRI) will select one Institut Pasteur startup venture each year for which it will fund training. The maturity of the startup venture will be a key selection criterion. The project leader will then be invited to defend his or her project to the HEC Challenge+ selection committee. If selected, the project leader will join the program and receive outstanding support to develop the project.
- Curious, contemplating a startup, developing your skills?
Even without a specific business venture, scientific and non-scientific Institut Pasteur staff will be able to apply to attend the course as an observer (one space per year) to familiarize themselves with business development methodologies. Applicants should contact their respective departments to assess their eligibility and find funding for the training.
Program: 24 days of hands-on training
The program takes place over a year, with eight three-day sessions (five on the HEC campus in Jouy-en-Josas and three online). The training is listed in the RNCP and you will receive a certificate confirming your skills.
Key advantages:
- Access HEC expertise: Training provided by professors from HEC Paris.
- Expand your network: Meet other project leaders, alumni, industry partners and HEC students.
- Structure and validate your ideas: Refine your concept and develop a convincing business plan to attract investors.
- Benefit from the excellent reputation of HEC Challenge+, recognized by all innovation ecosystems.
- Projects are selected on the basis of their innovative nature, development potential and maturity.
The Technology Transfer and Industrial Partnership Department (DARRI) will select Institut Pasteur candidates and guide them through the application process.
