PASTEUR2030
Launch of the new website www.pasteur.fr to bring science closer to everyone
The new website, www.pasteur.fr, went live on Thursday, August 20, 2026. It will serve as a brand new showcase presenting the Institut Pasteur to the public, our partner institutions and stakeholders interfacing with our corporate departments. The aim is twofold: to offer a window onto the Institut Pasteur's laboratories, and to promote the work of its scientists for the benefit of human health.

Behind the scenes of an institute dedicated to human health
Every year, more than 8 million visitors browse the content available at www.pasteur.fr, from disease fact sheets and health guidelines for travelers to scientific breakthroughs. Many people come to the website for specific practical information but are also curious to find out more about the Institut Pasteur, learn about its wide-ranging research topics and understand how its scientists are making a real difference to public health. So the aim of the new website is to provide them with a window onto the challenges and impact of the Institut Pasteur's research.
Visitors can now find information about the work of the Institut Pasteur's researchers, scientific breakthroughs, public health issues, and initiatives in France and abroad more easily. The aim is simple: to generate more interest in health-related content by giving people a better understanding of the research behind it.
Rather than offering a compartmentalized view of science, the idea is to tell the story of a collective scientific venture, a human-centered enterprise that benefits our lives and societies. This is reflected in efforts to create more links between the different pages, promoting the Institut Pasteur's latest scientific news more effectively and linking to the research.pasteur.fr site where relevant as a way of delving further into certain topics.
A trusted source of scientific information
At a time when access to reliable scientific and medical data is becoming increasingly challenging, the new www.pasteur.fr website will stand as a trusted information source. The website architecture has been completely redesigned to make the site easier to use. Whether looking for information about the emergence of a disease, preparing for long-distance travel, keeping up with the latest scientific discoveries or finding out how to support the Institut Pasteur's work, visitors can now enjoy a smoother browsing experience and clearer information.
A first step
The website launch is a key step in a broader process to modernize the Institut Pasteur's communications. It is set to be gradually updated and enhanced with the addition of new features that help bridge the gap between scientific rigor and public curiosity.
By directly targeting the general public, the Institut Pasteur is paving the way for closer links with its well-informed readers, potential donors and all those who, while perhaps not specialists, take a keen interest in science and health issues.
Call for contributions
The new website is the result of a collaborative effort, with contributions from many of the Institut Pasteur's departments. Our thanks to all those who have helped with this large-scale project.
But this initial version of www.pasteur.fr will continue to be developed, and we would like to encourage you to share any suggestions for improvements and/or changes with the web team via this form (in French). Thank you for your help and your contribution to the success of this major project in the Institut Pasteur's communication and branding strategy.
Messages from sponsors “This new website reflects the Institut Pasteur's new communication strategy – namely to express the modernity and humanity of the Institut Pasteur's identity and to provide informative content that reaches a broader section of the public. With the new site, we want to give people the opportunity to learn more about health issues and challenges, find out about ongoing research in our laboratories and access reliable, useful and relevant scientific information.” Henri Pitron, Vice-President Communications and Public Affairs “Above all this project was a wonderful collective experience. The Department of Communications team was driven, dedicated and determined to break down silos between departments to produce a website designed for users, not just one that presents our internal organizational structure. The key aim was to put ourselves in the position of a user with a question, guide them in a few clicks to a reliable answer and prompt them to action. In technical terms, the new website is also a solid platform – the architecture is modern, effective, accessible and clear, with well-structured content and a back office open to all teams. It will serve as a basis for developing advanced features, especially search and navigation tools using artificial intelligence – for example finding a specific disease fact sheet or contact person via a natural language query, customizing browsing depending on the user, and presenting our scientific content in a more tailored way. For an institute that has AI as one of its research areas and is already using AI with its teams, it is also a way of showcasing our expertise.” Stéphane Fournier, Vice-President Information Systems "At a time when digital technologies have become the main point of contact with the public, a modern website is a crucial strategic tool. As well as consolidating the Institut Pasteur's image as an innovative and transparent institution, it offers users a more enjoyable browsing experience, makes it easier to donate, expands our reach to new audiences and highlights the real-life impact of our research. By facilitating user engagement, the new website will make a direct contribution to fundraising and therefore to the research conducted at the Institut Pasteur."
