In concrete terms, what does this label entail?
The 16 major actions included in this action plan are structured around five strategic areas:

  • research ethics,

  • interactions between science and society,

  • recruitment and employability,

  • working conditions,

  • research management and training.

They are broken down into concrete initiatives, supported by all of the Pasteur Institute's departments and services. Here are a few examples of actions recently implemented (2024-2026) and promoted as part of the label:

To all: If you are involved in projects that contribute to one of these areas and would like them to be promoted during the next label evaluation (scheduled for February 2027), please contact us at the address hrs4r@pasteur.fr.

Who oversees the implementation of the action plan?
A cross-disciplinary project par excellence, the label is based on collective governance involving the scientific community and support functions.

The label's monitoring committee brings together scientists at different stages of their careers (doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, researchers, engineers) as well as representatives from support departments (HR, DJ, DCES, DEI).

This co-construction between professions, expertise, and career paths is one of the main levers for the adoption and impact of the action plan at the Institut Pasteur.

Want to contribute to this dynamic?
Join the HR Excellence in Research label monitoring committee!
Open to the entire community—researchers, engineers, support staff—the monitoring committee is responsible for:

  • Monitoring the implementation of the 20242-2026 action plan through two to three annual meetings and discussions with those responsible for the actions

  • Proposing and co-developing new initiatives to sustainably improve our research environment.

  • Sharing feedback and best practices in a collaborative and stimulating environment.

Participating in the committee means making a concrete contribution to improving working conditions, while developing your skills, your network, and your understanding of the challenges facing the Institut Pasteur.

What happens next?
Every three years, the label is evaluated by the European Commission. The Commission analyzes the results of the actions carried out, identifies strengths and areas for improvement, and takes institutional developments into account. At the end of this analysis, the label may be renewed.

The next evaluation is scheduled for February 2027 and will include an on-site visit by representatives of the European Commission.
