"Hunting invisible dangers – our scientists tackling the global threat of viruses and bacteria": Check out the prime-time documentary on France 5 on November 25

The deadliest criminals on the planet are not who you might think! Every year, microbes kill 14 million people worldwide – infectious diseases are responsible for one in every six deaths. How can we stop these serial killers, and what weapons can we use?
For this year's Pasteurdon, France Télévisions is broadcasting an exclusive documentary on France 5, directed by Magali Cotard and featuring Marina Carrère d'Encausse accompanied by Kad Merad, Institut Pasteur patron since 2024.
Marina Carrère d'Encausse sets out to meet people all over the world who are hunting down viruses and bacteria before they can get to us. From the Amazon rainforest to the Institut Pasteur's top secret laboratories, she lifts the lid on some of the major challenges of our time, including climate change, viral propagation and food security, and also uncovers some of the most surprising and promising new discoveries.
On the Institut Pasteur campus, alongside Kad Merad, she provides an unprecedented glimpse into the work of the scientists aiming to produce new treatments for cancer, antibiotic resistance and neurodegenerative diseases.
The documentary will be broadcast at 9.05pm on November 25 on France 5 and France TV.
