Launch of the 2026 edition of the PERL program: Two funding opportunities, a single submission date

The Department for Scientific Programming and Incentive Actions is launching the 2026 edition of the PERL (Pasteur Excellence in Research & Leadership) program, which this year offers two distinct funding opportunities:
• Pasteur Excellence in Research & Leadership (PERL & PERL-PN)
• Pasteur Imagine Curie-Programme of Excellence in Research & Leadership (PIC-PERL)
The aim of this new edition is to strengthen the impact of the Institut Pasteur's incentive programs by prioritizing the most innovative, disruptive and interdisciplinary collaborative projects. These incentive tools will also help to foster links with the Pasteur Network, particularly with low- and middle-income countries (PERL-PN) and with our strategic partners, the Institut Curie and Imagine (PIC-PERL).
PERL & PERL-PN (Pasteur Network) | PIC-PERL (Pasteur-Imagine-Curie) |
2-3 teams from the Institut Pasteur in Paris, overseas Pasteur Network institutes (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, New Caledonia) or eligible Pasteur Network institutes in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) | 2-3 teams from the Institut Pasteur in Paris, the Institut Curie and/or the Imagine Institute (two- or three-way collaboration) |
Up to €200,000 over two years (€100,000/year for two years) | Up to €200,000 (two-way) or€300,000 (three-way) over two years |
Joint conditions
These two funding opportunities are for innovative, interdisciplinary projects that require inter-institutional expertise to achieve groundbreaking proof of concept. The aim of this seed funding is to produce preliminary data with a view to subsequent competitive funding, rather than funding entire research projects.
Eligibility
Permanent scientists who have demonstrated independent leadership qualities. The projects must form new collaborations.
