Open-BAR: new scientific database

At the request of the Institut Pasteur President, the Scientific Support and Coordination Center (PACS), headed by Nathalie de Parseval, has set up a database that describes scientific entities in terms of their scientific and administrative aspects. This database, called Open-BAR (for Open-Base Annual Report), is now open to everyone.

You can access it:

  • via My Service Portal, under the “Collaborations” section (at the bottom of the page)

  • via ePasteur

  • via the direct link to add to your favorites.

Connection to Open-BAR is via Institut Pasteur credentials (VPN connection outside the campus).

Lhe database has been populated from several sources:

  1. The heads of scientific entities filled in the scientific data as part of an annual report at the end of 2025.

  2. The administrative data was filled in by the PACS, with some data provided by other support services.

This tool was designed as a management tool, but also to strengthen links between teams by facilitating information sharing. The entire campus now has simple, centralized access to up-to-date information on all campus entities, via simple or more complex keyword searches.

You can access the user guide to help you use the database and the database thesaurus to facilitate your searches and give you ideas about keywords you can find.

The PACS welcomes your feedback on the tool and its content (opinions, questions, comments, additional information, requests for changes, bug reports, etc.) via the address adminOpenBar@pasteur.fr (Marie-Laure Rosso and Nathalie de Parseval).

"Producing this database required a great deal of time and effort from the PACS team, but the result is worth it.

For the first time, we have a database that offers a broad, up-to-date overview of the scientific activities of all the units and departments on campus.

It has been designed to be useful for both the management team, to guide scientific decisions, and also the support departments and the scientists themselves, to give them a better idea of what is going on on campus. I believe that it will meet a real need.

The database will continue to be updated with new information and links to other Institut Pasteur databases. It will become a key resource for finding reliable, accurate information about our current scientific activities."

Patrick Trieu-Cuot, Vice-President Scientific Affairs

"If most of the Institut Pasteur's philanthropy is not allocated to specific themes, having a precise, regularly updated map of our projects, which reflects the richness and cross-disciplinary nature of the science conducted on our campus, is a significant asset in our fundraising efforts."

Antoine Bogaerts, Director of Philanthropy
