The aim of the lecture is to make science accessible to the public by exploring the topic of viruses and bacteria, two very different categories of microorganisms that can infect humans and either cause disease or bring health benefits.

Pascale Cossart will address the following questions: What are viruses and bacteria? How do bacteria become resistant to antibiotics? How can some viruses be used to eliminate resistant bacteria? Fabrice Hyber will create paintings and drawings in real time to illustrate this microscopic world.

The lecture will be followed by a signing session with Pascale Cossart and Fabrice Hyber for the following two books:

  • Virus contre Bactéries : une solution pour vaincre l’antibiorésistance by Pascale Cossart

  • Le Monde invisible du vivant Bactéries, archées, levures/champignons, algues, protozoaires et... virus by Pascale Cossart and Fabrice Hyber

The event is free but prior registration is required for logistical and security reasons.
