Short films for Pasteurdon: New edition! New director!
Pasteurdon is known for its inspirational short films, designed to raise awareness among the general public of the vital role of research in improving health. These short videos, featuring top journalists and presenters from our partner TV channels, are an impactful, effective way of delivering messages and bringing home the challenges of research to the public.
From June 8 to 12, on the campus at rue du Docteur Roux, the Department of Communications and Public Affairs will be holding sessions to shoot the new short films that will be shown for this year's 20th anniversary Pasteurdon campaign. And for this new edition, the Institut Pasteur has called on a talented new director!
With the François Jacob building providing an authentic film set, and with the continued support of the Ultrastructural BioImaging core facility led by Adeline Mallet, the 2026 scenario will unfold under the expert guidance of director Serge Khalfon and his crew. All the representatives of the partner TV channels and radio stations will take to the Institut Pasteur film set from June 8 to 12 to shoot the films alongside several scientists, focusing on each of the three major themes of Pasteurdon 2026 from two different angles:
- cancer: improving understanding of resistance to immunotherapy and explaining the aggressive nature of certain cases of postpartum breast cancer
- infectious disease threats: developing "virtual bacteria" to better tackle infection and working towards a permanent cure for HIV
- neurological diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders: understanding the genetic basis for autism and exploring the dialog between the brain and the microbiota in Alzheimer's disease
Six scientists in turn will form duos with representatives of TV channels to speak about the breakthroughs and discoveries made over the past 20 years in their area of expertise. They will also share their hopes for the future and discuss emerging treatments related to their ongoing research.
Look out for a selection of photos from the film shoots in an upcoming newsletter.
And make sure you tune in this October to check out the new films when they hit our screens!
Practical information he film shoot will take place on the ground floor of the François Jacob building. Notices will be displayed to tell occupants or visitors about the precautions to take during filming to minimize the sounds of equipment, doors, etc. And if you happen to pass through the shot, the organizing teams – who are well aware that this is a workplace – would ask you just to remain as "natural" as possible. |
