Seasonal influenza is an infectious respiratory disease representing a major public health challenge because of its propensity to cause epidemic waves. Every winter in France, an estimated 2 to 6 million people are affected, with tens of thousands of hospital admissions and 9,000 deaths associated with influenza on average, mainly among vulnerable individuals.
