French-Brazilian scientific cooperation: discover the seminars awaiting you in September and the six joint projects!
To mark 200 years of diplomatic relations between France and Brazil, the two countries are joining forces in 2025 for an exceptional cross-cultural season. As part of this initiative, the Institut Pasteur highlighted a key aspect of Franco-Brazilian scientific cooperation last June with an evening dedicated to the eminent Brazilian researcher Luis Rey. In the same vein, below you will find details of upcoming seminars and a focus on projects funded by the Institut Pasteur in collaboration with institutes in the Brazilian network.
• September 29 and 30: Seminar on "Building an international career in France – The impact of the Brazilian diaspora on the Institut Pasteur's research"
On September 29 and 30, the seminar "Building an international career in France – The impact of the Brazilian diaspora on the Institut Pasteur's research" will be held in Fortaleza (and also online). This event, supported by the Institut Pasteur's Department of International Affairs and Department for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as well as the "Brazilians for Science at Institut Pasteur" (BRASIP) network, is being organized as part of the 2025 France-Brazil Crossover Season.
The aim of the seminar is to highlight the impact of the Brazilian scientific diaspora at the Institut Pasteur. The event will focus on strengthening scientific cooperation between the two countries, presenting opportunities for academic and career mobility, and showcasing the outstanding careers of Brazilian scientists.
The program includes a scientific session led by Brazilian scientists currently or previously based at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, an institutional presentation about the Institut Pasteur's presence in Brazil and ongoing programs, and a round table with Brazilian authorities and the cooperation department. The round table will emphasize the value of international experience, especially in France, and present career prospects for scientists abroad or when they return to Brazil. The target audience is scientists and students interested in scientific mobility in France.

• Seminar Series "Mon Parcours Scientifique en France: from PhD to Visiting Professor"
The BRASIP board is excited to announce the BRASIP Seminar Series "Mon Parcours Scientifique en France: from PhD to Visiting Professor". Through this Fall/Winter monthly event series, we host Brazilian researchers who have established careers in France or who have worked in France and returned to Brazil to continue their careers there. They will speak about their professional experience with the country exchange and pursuing a scientific career between Brazil and France, which will be followed by a social moment to share Brazilian culture and tastes!
Our first seminar of the series will be presented on September 24 by Dr. Juliane Tamara Araújo de Melo Campos, an Assistant Professor and Researcher at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in the Department of Morphology and affiliated with the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Genomics (Brazil).
If you are interested in learning about career mobility and current opportunities to do science with a tropical touch, we will be waiting for you in the Agora room of the Simone Veil (14) building (Biomics building), on the number 28 side of campus.
Focus on projects funded by the Pasteur Institute, in collaboration with institutes in the Brazilian network
The Institut Pasteur in Paris regularly collaborates with Brazilian institutes in the Pasteur Network (Oswaldo Fiocruz Foundation and Pasteur Institute of Sao Paulo), particularly through the ACIP and PTR incentive programs, which are self-funded (replaced this year by the SPARK and PERL calls).
Genetics, structural biology, antimicrobial resistance, vector-borne diseases, parasitology...
