"ReCombinations, science, fiction, society" on April 10 and 11, 2026
On Friday and Saturday April 10 and 11, the Institut Pasteur will be hosting an event open to the general public in the CIS: "ReCombinations, science, fiction, society."
How can research help us envision alternative futures? Now more than ever, we need to imagine desirable futures and trajectories that will lead us there. We need vision and utopian ideas to change our perspective and show us that the future doesn't have to be merely a continuation of a destructive present. We need science to enlighten us about the present and the future, and to explain how potential futures might be achieved. We need to discuss these topics together.
We are inviting you to come and "ReCombine" the reflections, knowledge and ideas of researchers in biology and health, humanities and philosophy, as well as science fiction authors and the general public. Over two days, you will have the opportunity to discuss questions related to science and society during round tables, participatory events and exhibitions, with the aim of opening a window onto other futures.
The ReCombinations organizing committee is as diverse as the event itself. It is a collaborative effort by researchers from a variety of disciplines (biology and health, humanities and philosophy), members of the CeRIS team, the Department of Ethics and Bioethics, the Grants Office, the Pasteur Network and the CCIP, science fiction authors, partners, and friends of the event.
